One of the questions we get asked most often is “Where should we take our engagement photos?” I’ve got your answer… here are our favorite Phoenix engagement photo locations.
Well, we love seeing new places and always recommend thinking about places that are special to the two of you first. If the location is unique and has special meaning to you, the photos will mean that much more. But what if you don’t have any special places in mind, and you don’t know anyone with beautiful property?
No problem! The Phoenix area has some amazing locations for your engagement session. Most of the ones listed here are free and open to the public. Others may require a fee but are often well worth it… if there is a fee that I’m aware of, I’ll be sure to include that information! Either way, you have lots of great ideas for Phoenix engagement photo locations to choose from for your session!
The Riparian Preserve has a variety of background for us with the cacti garden being my favorite. But there’s also the water reservoir and the walking trail that includes mature trees… all creating a great setting for engagement photos.
There are so many great little spots we love in Downtown Gilbert to photograph at. So many walls, sidewalks and streets to use a s backdrop for a more downtown, city type of feel.
Coon Bluff is a great spot located in the Tonto national Forest that is along the salt river to the northeast of Mesa, AZ. It includes a lot of Arizona desert trees, cacti, and of course the salt river water. If it’s a nice day out and we are lucky we will be able to see some of the wild horses around.
Papago Park is by far a client favorite. With a great location, easy to get to, we again get some of Arizona’s desert landscaping along with the red buttes. A great benefit of Papago Park is it being right next to the Phoenix Zoo pond allowing us to use that space for a different scenery with the palm trees and water.
Old Town Scottsdale is one of the few places we can find greenery in the middle of the Arizona summers. That’s something that’s hard to find with the excessive summer heat. There are also several locations we can choose to photograph you at that includes the greenery, a historic feel or little more urban feel.
The Superstition Mountain has a desert climate and includes hiking trails that can be accessed from multiple areas. Peralta Trail is the most popular trail and is towards the east end with Lost Dutchman State Park on the west side the mountain. The short hike we typically take ends us at a spot filled with cacti and stunning view of the mountain when hit just right by the golden sun!
Heritage Square is another one of those places where you get a historic feel and some nice greenery. Not to mention the Arizona Science Center is right next door giving you a completely different feel with it’s modern and simple look. This is a two-fer-one location! If you want to minimize any distracting features, the Arizona Science Center is probably going to be your place!
The Desert Botanical Garden is the place to go if cacti is a must. They have thousands of them creating cacti every where you turn. There is a $30 fee to gain admission however the Garden hosts Community Day the second Tuesday of every month, where admission is complimentary.
Agritopia is an organic farmland with a few restaurants surrounding it. There are walking trails with mature trees along with their most known feature… the grapevine arch. It’s another great place if you are looking for lots of greenery. There is a $50 permit required and arrangements are required before the day of your session.
Sedona has so many great places to photograph at and the most popular being the infamous red rocks. With the high desert landscaping and creeks that flow thru Sedona the opportunities are endless there. There is a travel fee for a session in Sedona.
